Director General, Department of Cottage & Small Industry, Ministry of Economic Affairs
Mr. Tandin Tshering is currently serving as the Director General, Department of Cottage & Small Industry, Ministry of Economic Affairs. His mandate is to promote growth of a vibrant and sustainable cottage and small industries thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the country. Prior to his current post, he had served as the Director, Department of Industry. He had spearheaded the development of industrial parks in various parts of the country to facilitate establishment of industries. He led the amendment of the FDI Policy 2010 to make the Policy much more attractive for investments and also actively involved in the amendment of the Companies Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2016. Further, he carried out licensing reforms, which had helped in the drastic improvement in the ease of doing business ranking.
He had served as a board director in various Government institutions, state owned enterprise and public companies such as Druk Punjab National Bank Limited, State Trading Corporation of Bhutan Limited, Woodcraft Centre Limited, Tertiary Education Board and Royal Institute of Management. He currently serves as a board director on Agency for Promotion of Indigenous Arts and Crafts, SABAH, Bhutan, Farm Machinery Corporation Limited. Mr. Tandin brings over two and half decades of trade and industries promotion experiences. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Management. Besides he had also undergone training in various specialized field such as WTO trade policy, project planning and management, board director training, etc.
