Mr. Arriola has more than 25 years of experience in consultancy, primarily in the areas of banking regulation and supervision, and in the management of banks and MFIs. The focus of his work is on the micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) sector in Latin America.
He has served as CEO and Director of various banks in the region. As a bank manager, his main expertise lies in the areas of strategic planning, business development, MSME lending, risk management, finance and personnel management.
In addition, with more than 12 years of experience as a consultant for public and private institutions and international organizations, Mr. Arriola has a wide knowledge of the regulatory framework and banking sectors of various Latin American countries. His professional experience includes short-term and long-term assignments to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
Mr. Arriola served on the boards of directors, audit and risk committees of a number of member banks of the ProCredit group in Latin America, both as member and chairperson, and carried out numerous short-term missions in connection with these roles.
Mr. Arriola has served as a speaker at more than 30 international events on microfinance in 14 countries.
