Dy. Chief Laboratory officer/Head, Food Section BAFRA, MoAF
Ms. Gyem Bidha is currently the head of the Food Safety Section under Bhutan Agriculture and Food Regulatory Authority (BAFRA), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MOAF) and is responsible for the overall food safety plans and programs in the country. She is also the National INFOSAN Emergency contact point for Bhutan and also the Food Safety Focal Point for International Health Regulations (IHR) 2005. She also supervises the Codex activities in the country.
She holds a master’s degree in Agriculture Systems and Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok. Thailand and holds various diplomas in Food Bio-Processing Technology, Food Safety Management, Systems, Laboratory Accreditation and Quality systems. She is also a Certified lead Auditor for ISO 22000: 2005 Food Safety Management systems (FSMS) and Internal Auditor for Product Certification ISO 17065.
Prior to the current position, Ms. Gyem Bidha worked as the laboratory officer and Quality Manager for the National Food Testing Laboratory (NFTL) at Yusipang. She also functioned as the National Project Coordinators for the UNIDO Project on Standard Metrology, Testing and Quality (SMTQ) and the Food & Agriculture – Technical Cooperation Program (FAO-TCP) on Food Safety & Standards.
