IMF Mission Chief for Bhutan
Faisal Ahmed is the Mission Chief for Bhutan and Senior Economist in the Asia and Pacific Department, IMF. During 2015-2018, Mr. Ahmed served as the Chief Economist and Senior Advisor to the Governor at the Bangladesh Bank. During 2011-2015, he was the IMF Resident Representative in Cambodia. Since joining the IMF in 2003, Mr. Ahmed has worked on a broad range of advanced, emerging, and developing economies.
Prior to joining the IMF, he worked as an actuary for a global reinsurance company and as an economist at the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank. Mr. Ahmed has also taught at the University of Minnesota and the Royal School of Administration in Cambodia.
Mr. Ahmed holds a Ph.D. and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Minnesota, an M.Fin. in Quantitative Finance from Princeton University and he is also a CFA Charterholder.
